At the time the photograph was taken, Bradley was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department; he was elected mayor of Los Angeles in 1973 and served five consecutive terms. The three unidentified men in the photo are also police officers. Robeson, a singer, actor, and social activist, was a friend of Charlotta Bass, publisher of the Eagle.
